I just noticed something on my Vokey SM5 54° wedge that gave me some concern. It looks like what appear to be small cracks, or metal fatigue, on the hosel. I assume from bending to adjust the lie angle. I ordered the wedge direct from Titleist (through GolfUSA) one degree upright earlier this season, and have used the wedge sparingly for the season as it is in my second (backup) set of clubs. Should I be concerned? Or much ado abound thing?

    Hi Brad,

Have you tried to buff them out? It might just be marks in the chrome plating which is just cosmetic. The steel underneath is probably fine.

Thanks for the responses guys. In reply to Spudstarch, my wedge does not have any chrome plating. They were the black finish which I stripped off to raw when it started wearing.

Ah. In that case, I would worry. Let us know how it turns out.

Technically speaking, the structural integrity of the steel can only be determined by a qualified metallurgist which would most likely cost more than a new club. However, I would forward your photos to BV and have them address your concern. I'm sure they have seen a similar condition and would best advise you of your next move. Good luck.

Can anyone provide an e-mail address for Vokey? I am not able to find one on the website to get in touch directly and be able to provide photos.
