  1. Hi guys, I'm playing well with a bag full of titlist and my D2 driver. However the weakest part of my game is my 60' 04 Vokey SM4 on difficult pins near to the edge of the green.

I use it around the green on difficult pins as I land my 54 Vokey sm5 approx half way to the pin and it roles an equivalent distance when dry. I use the 60.04 for anything shorter and I'm not as good with it.

I have 2 choices - get rid and replace with a 58, or bend it down to 58, but am I right in thinking I'd reduce the bounce by 2 degrees from 4' to 2 degrees? which sounds impossible to use?

Personally, I'd say a 60* with 4* bounce is too little bounce. I've played with that club plenty over the years, but it's not an easy club to hit right consistently and I'd rather play my 60.08. You won't get any roll on an 04 unless the shaft is way forward, which you can try before switching, but bad shots work out much better on the 08 bounce.

Typically, the bounce and loft work 1 for 1; so bending it 2 degrees will reduce the bounce by 2 degrees.
  4. thank you TitleistFan 3611, that's really useful and supports what I was thinking, I was coming to the same conclusion, bending to 58 was just a distraction.
I'm really good with the 54 SM5 (10' bounce) but so bad with the 60 04 and couldnt understand why - I thin it or hit it short more often than I get it right.....
As I have a 50 and a 54 vokey I thought about going for a new 58 with more bounce, then again I use the 54 so often that after 1 year it may be time to get rid of my 50, 54, 57 (older sand wedge with lots of bounce) and 60 and buy 3 new ones (50,54,58).

What exactly are you having trouble with? from 5-10 yards? 50 yards out? I've found that around the green when I create divots my results are a lot better-- I get more spin and my shot is more accurate. I also play it off my back foot unless I'm doing a flop shot
  6. my problem is 5-15 yards on tight pins, I can flop it over larger distances but for shorter I just thin it or hit it long most of the time. I generally play it nearer the back foot but it just feels to react so differently to the 54' 10 ' S grind SM5.
