I have purchased a new set of 716 ap2 irons. 2 degrees strong to bring down launch angle; my question is now that my PW is 44 degrees what do I do about my wedges- I have SM5 wedges already 50,54,58? I have a 6 degree gap- do I bend my wedges 2 degrees strong to match ? I hit my PW 145 on average; I hit my 50 degree 115-120. Will bending the wedges mess up the bounce? Please advice, thx

Changing the loft on your wedges will definitely change the bounce. FYI, the bounce in your 716 AP2's is now 2-degrees lower than stock. If you want to maintain a 4 degree gap in wedges and not change wedge bounce, you can purchase a 48, 52 and 56 Vokey.

What will the two degrees strong and now changed bounce due to my swing and club to ball contact? What should I notice or what would I gain by going back to standard loft?

Why not bend your 50 to 49? You also may want to practice choking down. 1/2" for a 10 yard change. You can choke your PW a full inch and that will come close in distance to the GW.

Also remember that set wedges get about 10 more yards than Vokeys do. I have an old set of forged Apx irons and the F wedge is 50*. I get about 95-100 yards out of it and 75-80 out of my SM4 56-11. I would get 90 yards tops out of my SM4 52-12 (bent to 53).

I purchased a new set of 716 AP 1's. The pitching wedge loft is 43*. I went with the SM5 48*, 54* & 60*. They are working quite well.

    Hi THearn,

Have you looked into fine tuning the lofts throughout the set? May be only make the PW 1* strong to a 45* and then push your 50* to a 48.5*?

What are your typical gaps for the rest of the set?

As far as bounce, if you don't already notice the affect, then don't worry about it. Just make ball-first contact.
