  1. Hello,

I am currently playing project X 6.5 soft stepped once and I am looking to order the SM6 wedges. I want to keep my wedge shafts similar to my irons shafts so I want the project 6.5 in them. My question is can the wedge shafts be soft stepped to help get the spin up on the wedges? I want to try and get the most spin I can out of my wedges as I normally have trouble spinning them anyways. If so, How would I place this order for my pro for him to send to our Titleist rep? I am coming from SM5 wedges with KBS C-Tapers S+ straight in and had trouble spinning them.

    Thanks, Wes

  2. Hi Wes,

We are able to soft step PX 6.5 without any issue, and in fact it's a common request for the reasons you mentioned as well enhanced feel on shorter shots. Please have your pro call us with your specifications (loft, lie, bounce, finish, length, grip, etc) to place an order and ensure he mentions you want the shafts soft stepped - we will take it from there.

If you plan to order a gap wedge we caution soft stepping that particular loft. Gap wedges are typically an extension of your iron set and used more often on full swing shots. For this reason, we would encourage matching the shaft installation in your irons for this stronger lofted club.

Let us know if you have any issues getting the order placed.

  3. Chris,
Thanks for the quick response! I currently play irons in 6.5 that are also soft stepped. Are you saying I should play the 50* straight in or go ahead and soft step all my wedges to match my set?
    Thanks,
    Wes
  4. Hi Wes,

If your irons are soft stepped we recommend doing the same in a 50 degree.
