    Dear golf friends'

I'm in a bit of struggle lately deciding if I should replace my stock PW ( TM Rac MB TP 48°) for a new vokey wedge. Mainly because I noticed that I have no wedges with low bounce in my bag. I play with the TVD-K 54 and 60 with 10° and 12° bounce, with s200 shafts customised by Wedgeworks. Generally when I hit a full blast wedge( wich I will not do often) I hit my 60° approx 80M and my 54° 100M but for control reasons I would say 70/90 maximum and my PW 110(120) My home course has soft conditions in general so I'm able to use my high bounce well + I live in Belgium = shitty climate. The 20M gaps are big but not the problem because I tend to spend a lot of time on our approach section to keep my feeling sharp and alive. Yesterday I played a dried out course in the north of Antwerp where it is quite hot for the moment and on concrete lies I felt like I had no feeling with my stock PW ( on pitches) and the high bounce wedges are no option. What do you guys think in terms of bounce for a 48° vokey? Or even delofting my 54 and 60 to 53,59 with the bounce reduction and play a 5° gap between 48,53 and 6° gap between 53,59 ?

Thanks in advance ladies and gents Geoffrey Wagemaekers EGA HCP 3,4

Fairly common to have some clubs to switch out based on the course. I normally use a 8 bounce 56 SW because of damp and thick bunkers. If I have the occasional soft fluffy bunker, I might use a 12 bounce 52 degree GW. I should have a 12-14 bounce SW to use. Soft bunkers are uncommon so I have not made it a priority.
  3. I think that makes total sense...I did the same thing...it offers more control and feel IMHO. I would get the 48 you mentioned since it is meant and designed to replace a PW.

I carry a Vokey 48 as my true PW. It is much better for short game chipping and pitches than my game improvement PW.

Personally, I would go to a fitter. There are a lot of options with the new SM6 wedges.

Well the obvious answer is to change into a Vokey and drop that other brand, ASAP.. A fitter would help.

I play blades anyway, but I'd say do it......I actually prefer my Vokey 46 over the stock MB wedge........

Bounce is very player/swing type/conditions most played dependent. I do recommend the 48 degree Vokey and the adjustment of lofts to achieve proper gapping. When I started to think I was losing feel with my wedges I switched the shafts to TT Dynamic Gold S400 Tour Issue. This helped me get more feel.

Geoffrey, I'm not a big fan of de-lofting my wedges, just a personal preference as I've tried it before. Seems to change how the club gets through the turf. When I bought my new set of AP2s, I opted to get a vokey instead of the pw in the set. What I noticed is that the vokey is a little shorted (distance wise) so I opted for the 46 w/ 8 bounce. I play higher bounce on my 52 and 56, then low bounce on my 62 so that I have options as the lies and courses always differ.
  11. Geoffrey,
I looked into this myself a year ago.
Bought myself a 48 degree vokey wedge with 8 degree bounce. I have gone back to my stock wedge as I found that off the tight lies (i play traditional links golf) i still didn't have the sort of feeling i was looking for. I found that i hit a lot more shots thin than with my stock wedge and i also found it was hard to control the spin as with the small amount of bounce it just ripped through the ball and span it a savage amount.
    Hope this helps

Thanks for all your comments guys.
When reading and after playing yesterday I've opted for a 48° Vokey with 8° bounce. I noticed that my shots into the green are mostly 3/4 or full shots with a pitch and that the stock pitch isn't that receptive( is a blade) in terms of feel, launch and spin control.
Getting my Vokey next week, excited

    I switched out my 46* PW with a SM6 46*.
    Have not looked back.

    You should have no problem.
