Getting a new set of wedges and irons over the winter. I am curious if anybody has had issues with the massive weight difference between the two? I am going to be hitting full shots with 2 of my vokeys I know.

  2. Colby, you can request the swingweights of your wedges and irons to be whatever you want. Thus, the shafts can be adjusted as well. I have two AP1 irons ( 3 and 4) as well as vokey wedges (PW, Gap, Sand, and Lob) and not had any issues. I play AP2 irons for my set (5-9). All in all, since you are hitting full shots with your wedges you would want to consider the same shafts that came with your irons, I would just order them that way and specify the swingweight you want.

    Good Luck!

You can have whatever shafts you want in the vokeys. For the vokeys that I always or almost always make a full swing, I have teh same shaft as my irons. Sometimes I have my iron shaft in all my wedges.

Based on you saying that two of your wedges will be always full swing, I'd say you should have the iron shafts in those wedges. If you like the wedge shaft in the non-full swing wedge(s), then stay with that on those.

Do what works and feels best for you.

My 716 AP1 shafts and SM6 Vokey shafts are the same. XP105 S300. Ordered them that way from Titleist when I was fitted.

Like Chris and B.A. said, you can ask for anything. I got fitted for AP1s in June and ordered my irons shaft (XP 90) for the wedges. No problems; Titleist will accommodate you.

A lot of good comments Colby, the bottom line is Titleist can put in any shaft you like and you can adjust the swing weight up or down within certain limits. For full shots, I would include the same shaft as the rest of your irons to ensure a similar result. For partial shots, you may want to consider different options.

I play the AP2's with the DG AMT X100's in the irons but for my Vokeys I use a DG 200 shaft. The softer shaft works well since I hit a lot of partial "feel" shots with my Vokeys and it really helps with the feel on my wedges. I have played them this way forever and always questioned my setup, but when I met with Bob Vokey at Oceanside to fit my wedges, he kept the shafts the same and said that having the softer shafts in my wedges was not that uncommon.

Good luck and set those Vokey's up best to match your own personal game.
