  1. Been looking to switch to SM6 wedges soon, currently play a 4 degree gap (52, 56, 60) but when switching I plan on looking for 50, 54, 58 with lower bounces...any suggestions on grinds and certain SM6 models?

So much depends on your game, your swing, your course conditions, etc.

I can only say, I played the old 2009 Vokey Spin-Milled wedges with the now, non-conforming grooves up until this year. I continually replaced them with new 2009 versions every year or so, but was having trouble still finding them at a reasonable price. I tried the SM4s and SM5s over the period, but kept coming back to the 2009 version. So after reading so much good stuff about the SM6s last winter, I was sold. I finally bit the bullet and switched to the SM6s the week they were released. Best move I ever made regarding any club. These things are awesome. My AP2-716 PW is 46*, so I went 50/54/58. I used to play 52/56/60 with my AP2-712s, which had a 47* PW. I like this set up better. It sounds like you like less bounce, but I like more. I am set up with 50.08 F, 56.10 S and 58.12 K. This set up works better for me than any other I have ever used. I used to play a 60.07, but can do so much more with the 58.12K and it is absolutely the best wedge I have ever used for greenside bunker shots.

If you are a shallow swinger, my set up may not work for you. I take a pretty good divot. I have not had any issues with any of my grinds on either hard or softer conditions. The 58-12K works wonders on real soft conditions, yet I have no problem at all off of hard-pan with it.

You really have to know and understand your game before just picking new wedges. And, if you get an opportunity to be fit outdoors at a Titleist demo day, don't pass it up.

The part Doug says about understanding your game and also the conditions you play them in is so important.

But since you listed the exact 3 lofts I currently use and in a similar configuration bounce wise, I thought I'd share my thoughts.

I have the 50 (F) and 54 (M) in .08 bounce. The F&M are flexible enough to accommodate my somewhat steep swing in soft conditions and with the low bounce I am able to adjust the club-face on a variety of lies to accommodate anything from a fluffy lie to a hard-pan lie.

The 58 (K) is 14 degrees. I got that combo specifically for bunkers and it was based on a recommendation from a friend after getting his. It has been money out of the bunker.

And I've learned a nifty little shot with it, when I am say within 10 yards of the green to a short-side pin, I just take it back a bit past 1/4 and accelerate through it and it pops it up right on the front of the green with just a little bit of release right toward the hole. I've used that shot at least a dozen times for up and down this year and holed it twice.

    The wedges are just fantastic.

Vokey makes some awesome wedges and there are a lot of options. I personally feel that it is important that you go to a fitter and get the correct set up for your game. It is very difficult to recommend a club without watching you swing and how you hit the wedge. The wedge is such an important club in the bag, get a proper fit and enjoy the game more. Cheers, Chuck.....

I believe they offer the 60* K grind in a 6* bounce thru wedge works. I played the SM4 - M grind wedges in the past, nice grind. However when I upgraded to the SM6 wedges I chose a more progressive bounce 52.08 F / 56.10 S / 60.12 K - based more on partial shots vs full swings. Due to the changing conditions the course goes thru during the season, wet - hard pan, I have enjoyed having many options, as well as the K grind for improved bunker play.
  6. The other guys on here make valid points about about the K grind being good from soft sand. If you have more of a sweeping action which I am guessing you do if you require lower bounce wedges, then you will only find it useful in soft sand and fluffy lies with the face square. The sole is so wide with lots of camber, trying to play a lob shot with the face open is dicey.

Having one of your most lofted clubs with a bit of bounce and the other with less gives you the variety of having a club good from soft or wet sand or tight or fluffy lies.

    Combinations like,

    54M and 58S or K
    54S and 58M

It depends which wedge you use from bunkers. I've gone 50.08F 56.10S (for bunkers), 60.08M.

This years 54M is really sharpe.

    Good luck.

  7. I just purchased the SM6 60 degree, with L grind, and 4 degree bounce. It is awesome. Should have made the move much sooner. My up and down ratio, ie kill ratio is over 80 percent over the last 10 games, with 4 chip ins. One of the best moves I have ever made.
