Kind of confused on the grinds. Looking to get a 50 and 54 degree. I would like to use them both to take full swings with-- 120ish & 100ish. Live and play only in southern California where it rarely rains (except right now). Was looking for any input on which grind to go with. Also, for any of you who have these wedges-- do you play the same shaft as your iron? Get a different one? Can you really tell the difference? Thank you.

Are you a picker or digger? I play a 50.08 F Grind, a 54.10S Grind and a 58.12K Grind, each grind chosen for the type of shots I like to play with each wedge. I take a good divot. I use the 50F the same way I use my AP2 PW, mostly for full and 3/4 swing shots. I rarely chip with it, though will hit long checking chipitches with it. I play the 54S grind for all types of less-than-full swing, as well as full swing shots, and use it as my primary chipping wedge. I rarely open the face on it. The S Grind works perfect for me on this club. The 58K Grind is ideal in the bunkers whether hard or soft. I open it up and use the wide bounce sole when it calls for it, like in soft sand, but also use it for 75-85 yard, 3/4-full swing shots with a square face. Love this wedge. I DID NOT decide to go with the same shafts as my AP2s, which are R flex, but instead went with the stock Vokey SM6 wedge flex, which is a stiff flex shaft. I do not have any issues with the stiffer flex. I actually like them a little stiffer in my wedges. Just one man's opinion. BTW, I did get fit for these wedges.

I too was very confused on the grid options. It took me some time and several iterations to figure out the right setup for my game. I ended up with the F grind for my 50 and 54. It's the most versatile for all turf conditions and full shots. I also went with the L grind for my 58 because I like to open and close the face a bit around greens to control trajectory and spin. Would never use that one for full shots though. This setup was closest to my old Cleveland 588's I used in high school and fit my game quite well.

As far as the shafts go, I went with the stock shafts for now. I may end up putting KBS high rev's in these at some point. I want to get a few rounds in this spring first before I decide. Not sure yet if it will be for all 3 or not. I could see my 50 matching my iron, but would probably go with a wedge specific shaft for the 54 and 58.

If you have not already, check out the grind videos on the Titleist website. Those, along with some independent youtube reviews helped me narrow down my options to what I was best for me. Or even better, go see an authorized Titleist fitter if you can. Many of them have wedge specific fitting sessions that can help you dial in the grind, bounce and shaft options that work best for you. Hope this helps!
  4. I use the 50 degree in the F grind for full shots. Sits nice behind the ball with great turf interaction. My shafts are the normal dynamic gold shafts verse the dynamic gold amt in my irons and I can't tell the difference.

As I understand it, it's a function of both swing type and the type of course conditions. For instance I use the S grind with some degree of success as I come in a bit steep and typically play on about average course ground (not too soft, not too hard). Anyway, that's a layman's interpretation of what I've read. Good luck.

Thanks for all the input. Didn't expect to get this much feedback!

Read all these comments and watched all the videos detailing these variances in grinds prior to making a decision. I was fit for four wedges this week and purchased the SM6 46 K, 52 K, 56 S and 60 M that works best for my swing style and conditions. Surprising what the tape markings on the bounce will tell you during the fitting. I did put on my preference of grips to tweak them a bit. Thrilled to be dialed in and can't wait to put into use.
