    Hi Team Titleist,

    The Vokey Design Wedges team has been hard at work, answering one of our most questions: When should I replace my wedges?

    Their research shows that control and performance tails off significantly once a wedge's grooves have been worn to a point that's roughly equivalent to 75 rounds of play. There's a big difference in the control and stopping power a golfer will experience using a wedge with new grooves vs. a wedge that has been used for 125 or even 75 rounds.

    The main takeaway? Keep an eye on your wedges and evaluate the amount of groove wear. 

    So we wanted to know, what's your current wedge setup and how often do you switch out your wedges? Share your setup and a photo of it in the comments below.

    Hey Abby,

    I am actually looking to replace my wedges this season since it has a been a few years and a few rounds. I currently have 3 SM4's in my bag and I'd be curious if anyone has the same set up. I have a 54 deg (14 deg bounce), 58 deg (12 deg bounce), and a trusty 62 deg (7 deg bounce). I am looking forward to getting fitted this spring/summer to see if this set up still works for my game.

    Hello Abby, Just bought a set of AP1s. I have the P wedge at 43 and wedge1 at 47. Still using SM 4s, 52 and 56. Replace them when I can. And that is not often enough.

    Ap1 Aw-48* changing to a SM6-48*
    SM4-54*
    SM6-60* just added

    The 48 will be the first one to change, but I would be changing about every 3 or 4 years. Only play a couple dozen times a year.

    Awesome wedges. Best since the 2009 Spin Milled of which I played many sets of until the SM6s came out. Bought new SM 2009s every year or so, until I couldn't find new ones anymore. That's when I switched to SM6s. Best move I could have made. Love the performance. Got fit for very specific types of shots with each, hence the different grinds. I'm not a big hitter. Wedge game is where I make my money.

    Play and/or practice 300+ days a year. I can't afford to replace wedges every 75 rounds, but certainly would if I could. I replace now usually every year.

    My Current setup is a 46˚, 50˚, 54˚, 60˚ SM6 Raw finish (Will take photo when done with student teaching :) ). One of my reasons for switching to Titleist last June was because I've always wanted a non-set PW, and as a lefty that's super hard to come by. LOVE my Vokey wedges, and wish I would've made the switch sooner. TBH, Titleist has to be the most left-hand friendly company, not even cally with their super-star Lefty ;)

    Hey Abby, how many months would 75 rounds equate? Does Titleist recommend switching every six months, or annually? Thanks!

    I change out my wedges at the beginning of each season. I keep the old ones for practice and the driving range, and the new ones are just for when I'm on the course playing.

    My current (Lefty) setup is:
    50* SM6- f grind
    54* SM6- f grind
    60* SM6- m grind

    All tour chrome

    *Expensive game this is...don't tell the wife!!! Lol

    51 F grind, 56& 60 S grinds - I typically switch out the wedges every other year, based on playing 50-60 rounds per year.

    I don't change out my wedges nearly as much as suggested because it's just not practical for me to do so. I have a 60, 56, and 52 in my bag currently, all with standard bounce. I'll be honest, the 60 degree has been in my bag for 15 years simply because I don't use it very much.

    The grooves still look fine, it's just one of those clubs that I'm glad it's there when I need it around the green. I almost never use it for full swings, I'm much more comfortable taking a 3/4 swing with the 56. I will switch it out for a hybrid based on what course I'm playing. I've had my 56 degree wedge for 5 years. I just picked up the 52 degree wedge last season, and I'm loving it.

    I'll be looking to switch out my 56 degree wedge within the next year, I would say I do that every 5-6 years. (I apologize for not including a picture, my bag isn't at work with me)

    Currently have a 716 AP1 PW at 43*, Vokey SM6 46-8 F grind (turned up to 47-9), Vokey SM5 52-12 F grind turned down to 51-11, and a SM6 56-10 S grind that I play as is. I really love all of them. As soon as my doctor releases me from my shoulder surgery I will be working on my short game like never before because I'm sure I won't be as long as I have been and will rely on my short game much more. Fairways and greens to all.

    My current setup is:
    SM6 Tour Chrome 50.12 F
    SM6 Steel Grey 54.10 S
    SM6 Jet Black 58.8 M

    All of them have XP 105 S300 shafts.

    I'll replace my wedges between 1 1/2-2 years depending upon the wear on my grooves. I usually replace my 58 first within a year to year and a half. Next would be my 54 and finally my 50. It all depends on how worn my grooves get. All three of my wedges will get replaced within 2 years.

    My current set up is:

    SM5 48-08F
    SM5 54-10S
    SM5 60-04L

    I have about 150 rounds on these wedges, I had no idea that I *should* be changing my wedges this soon! That might explain that I have less spin to hold the greens. I have a Titleist Thursday coming up and will look into the SM6 Vokey's. Thanks for the thread.

    My current setup is pretty basic: MB Pitching Wedge, 52-08 F Grind and a 58-08 M Grind, both of the Vokey wedges are finished in black.

    I replace them 3 to 4 times a year. I do wish Voke would bring back the TVD grind.

    I have been playing the Vokey Wedge Works TVD's since the 2011 season. I play 50+ rounds per year. I am over due for replacements. I am waiting for the TVD model to be offered again or the Vokey Cold Forged Wedges that are currently not available in the U.S. I play the 52/08, 56/12 and the 60/08.

    I like the gapping but its definitely time for new wedges. As soon my course is in playable shape I'll be over there working with the pro to replace them. Same lofts, but I'll have to think about the grinds.
