Ditto on this! The best way is with a wedge fitting.
Be able to dial in your gaps.Find out exactly what grind you need and what wedges.
    Good luck.

What is your current set up and what are you hoping to achieve?

I don't use a gap wedge myself as I carry a 2-PW, my PW is 48, SW is 54 and LW is 60. Never really felt the need to reduce those gaps but a lot of my playing partners do carry 4 wedges and utilise the GW.

Mick, depending on your PW loft the SM6 50 might be perfect. I've used the 50 in the SM4 and now SM6 with 46 degree PWs from 2 different sets. I love the small gap from my PW to my 50. I think the SM6 50 only comes in the "F" grind but I love it. I much prefer the Vokey 50 opposed to a matching gap wedge from the sets I've had. This is also my go to club for chip shots that I want to run out a bit. It has great feel and I think you'll be able to flight it well and scrub off distance when needed. My distance control with my SM6 wedges are great. You can't go wrong with one in my opinion.

I have AP2 714's thru 50 deg gap (W) and Vokey 54. I don't think you can go wrong with a Vokey, or MB gap Wedge if they make one. A Titleist Thursday firing or demo day might help decide.
  8. I agree with above. Most PW these days are 46, so I use 50, 54, & 58 wedges. My old wedge set up I used 52, 56, &60. I lot depends on what kind of shots you like to hit around the green. Like the 58 over the 60 so I just filled the gaps. Only way to know for sure is get out there and try things and see what works for you
  9. The PW loft will depend on your set of clubs. AP1 and C16 have a 43 deg PW, T-MB is 45 deg, AP2's have a 46 deg and CM and MB have a 47 deg PW.

I've got a 50 degree gap wedge , it's ideal for anything between 120 and 130 yards , and for long running chips

  13. I have the older ap2 with a 47 degree pw and have a 50/8 bent to 51/9 and find it to be pretty perfect. I'm not tremendous at cutting 10-20 yards off my pw (tend to pull it) so a near full or flighted swing with the 51 fits the bill. I've also found it works very well on courses with fairway grass that slopes away from the greens (hitting a bump and run instead of a high one with a 60 degree out of long grass). I also carry and 60 L Grind and rotate a 54 M Grind and 56 S Grind for context. Ultimately best to just go try a few out for some practice rounds. Good luck!
