  1. Im new here and looking for a bit of advice please.... Im going to be buying 3 Vokey wedges on Friday. Wanting some advice on what grinds and bounce.

My current wedges are the MD3 milled 50deg 08 bounce, 54deg 08 bounce and 58deg 09 bounce. All are cally S grind (all round grind).

I mostly hit full shots with my 50 and 54 deg wedges and short shots around the green with my 58deg.

I am assuming the best for me would be the 50deg 08 bounce F grind 54deg 08 bounce F grind 58deg 10 bounce M grind

    any advice would be appreciated.

  2. Sorry a bit of a change I'm looking at the 50deg 08 bounce F grind, 54deg 10 bounce S grind and 58deg 08 bounce M grind.
  3. Hi Michael, Welcome to the Team. I think the set up you are looking at will fit just fine. If you have the chance try go hit a few and see from there. I currently have a 52F and a 58 M and im really happy with the set up

I would highly suggest visiting a Titleist Thursday for a wedge fitting. They will be able to get you dialed into the proper lofts and grinds.

Besides numerous recommendations to see a fitter, wedge selection is so personal there is a reason there are so many loft and grind options in Vokey wedges. From what wedges do you use for full shots to how your local turf works on tight lies to the nature of the sand in your local bunkers. All these factors are part of getting you dialed into the best wedges for you. I never see the bright, white, fluffy sand you see at the Masters. My mud pits need less bounce than those would require.

I would suggest you visit a P.G.A. pro or fitter. Thats the best way to make your your set up is correct for your swing type.

I would second both Titleist Thursday fitting or a Titleist PGA pro fitter- definitely see them. I mean you may as well, you want to cover all angle and receive all aspects from them.
    Good luck.

This is the EXACT wedges that I have and they work great
  9. I would also recommend going to a Titleist fitter or a Titleist Thursday. Those guys know how to give you the best results and they might recommend something you would not have expected.
  10. Hey guys thanks for the advice but unfortunately I am unable to visit a fitter or a Titleist Thursday as I'm based in South Africa. The only fitters I've found is indoors so are unable to fit wedges. So any advice on what wedges to use on full swings in the 54 and 50 deg would be great. Our ground is medium to soft hardness wise and currently use 8 and 9 bounce and seem to work well with my cally wedges.
  11. Hi Michael,

I live in Australia so the ground conditionas on some of the courses here are probably similar. You could ask on the Australia / NZ discussion group if anyone from Perth or Brisbane can recommend what wedge bounce they use. I would think the course there would be similar to SA. I live in Melbourne and our courses are probably a little softer. I was fitted a fe months ago and the fitter suggested 10* bounce. My current wedge is a 260.04 which probably has too little bounce unless I'm hitting off a tight lie. I do notice that it tends to dig in a bit if the ground is particularly soft.
  12. General rule is if you dig or play in softer conditions bounce will be your friend. That being said I do both and have a 60 L Grind that I love (but it did take some getting used to). For both full and flighted shots I love both my 50 F Grind (bent to 51/9) and my 54 M Grind. For whatever reason I find that my 56 S Grind isn't suited well for full shots (which is fine because I never use it for them). Hope this helps; best way is to demo at your local club.
