Looking for some feedback. I was fit for my AP3's over the summer with KBS $ Taper shafts, in stiff. Really love them. Looking to purchase a new set of SM7 wedges to match up. I know the lofts i want based on distance my gaps. (48, 54, 60) I am just unsure about what shafts to get. I know i need to go for a fitting. However, being a lefty means not all options are always available to try. What do you guys think? Should I match my wedge shafts to my iron shafts? Should I match all 3 or just the 48* gap wedge? Will performance be much different with the KBS $ taper vs. the standard True Temper DG? Anyone else out there using kbs shafts in their wedges? Any and all feedback would be much appreciated! Thanks!

Probably more of a personal preference thing. I have the T-MB's in graphite but kept the Vokeys with stock steel shaft. The way i look at it is, the Vokeys are different head shape and weight anyway so why try to match? I think i can control the less than full shots better with steel so I just treat the wedges as a different set, just like i do fairway woods versus irons. For you, maybe the difference would be noticeable enough to go KBS. You'll have to decide. Sorry, not much help, was I?

    I appreciate your opinion!
  4. I have the same set up. My fitter had no experience with the SM6's in the $taper and hesitated to recommend. I went with S400's and have been very happy.

One of the reasons I went with the $ was because I play in mostly windy conditions and these help to reduce spin and are known to perform well in the wind. I have been using them since August and really do see the difference in windy conditions. They really help with my ball flight. I am very interested in how the $ taper performs with wedges as well.

Just going on the recommendation of my fitter, he said get the same shafts in your wedges as your irons. For full disclosure, I haven't been fitted for SM7s yet, that will be soon, still awaiting my AP1s to come in. Should be any day.

Thanks, Good luck with those AP1’s!
  8. I am very curious to see the answers here. I was fitted for KBS Tour FLT's in my 716 AP2's last summer and have been trying to figure out what shafts for the SM7's would suit me best. I too would be inclined to stay in the KBS family. Sorry for hijacking your thread a bit, David.

No worries. I am leaning towards the $ taper with my gap wedge because that’s mainly used for full swings. I’d like to stay in the kbs family for my sand and lob wedges and they have a variety of options. They also have wedge shafts now. Just want to know which one is best for the Vokey’s specifically.

If the majority of the use is for full swings, then those wedges would be iron extensions and use the same shaft. Even at premier fitters, I've only seen a full variety of head grind and loft options, but all connected to the basic wedge shaft. And, I suffer being LH as well. Fortunately, the worst issue is not all finishes are available. At least grinds and lofts are essentially full-line.

Do you know if the Jet Black option is available for us lefties? Can’t find it as an option to preorder anywhere.
