Just got my set of AP3 clubs. I opted for the gap wedge (PW is 43° and gap wedge is 48°). My prior set had a 45° PW and I had a 50°, 54°, and 58° vokeys (various grinds / bounces over the years). I typically use the 54° for most of my short game shots except bunker and flop shots when I use the 58°. I open the face on the 54° for shots from 95 yards and in and rarely hit a full shot with the 58°.
With the AP3 gap wedge, I have room for only two vokey wedges. I hit the AP3 gap wedge 5-10 yards farther than my previous set creating a gap in yardage.
Wedges are due for replacement so will be ordering two SM7s, but having difficulty finalizing the lofts. I am currently thinking a 52° and either a 56° or 58°. I think I could get away with using the 56° for bunker shots and chip / pitch shots that need significant height. If I get the 58°, I am not sure what I will hit from 70 yards and in as I would have to hit less than a half swing.
Looking for any thoughts / suggestions.
