I've used Cleveland wedges since the CG10. I am currently using a 588 52 and 60 degree. prior to these I thought about making the switch to Vokey but I've always had a hard time getting used to the weight difference when I do demo rounds.

Cut to now. Cleveland Wedges since the 588's came out have totally lost al of what I used to like about them. I find the newer Cleveland wedges to be completely unplayable and ugly as... something really ugly. SO, I am again wanting to move to the Vokey's fairly soon as these wedges have seen quite a bit of play and likely won't be effective for much longer.

Has anyone else gone through changes from one brand to Vokey's? How long did it take you to get used to the difference in feel and play etc...?

    Thanks in advance!

  2. I have used Cleveland wedges in the past and am now a Vokey guy. It didn’t take long at all to get used to how Vokeys perform. They are truly such great clubs that take your wedge play to the next level.

    Hope this helps!

I have for the most part always played Cleveland wedges since the early 80's. I moved to cally same designer. Liked them well enough. Played the Vokey wedges a few times never had a real connection with them like the Cleveland wedges of old but I played those wedges a long time. Well with the help of some info on reviews I decided to try the SM 7 52 F 12 degrees of bounce and the SM 7 58D 12 degree. I found my wedges. I recently had purchased the Cleveland RTX 4 good wedge. The SM 7 will be in my bag for a long time. Fantastic wedge.
  4. I recently switched from the RTX-3 to SM6s and the difference is night and day. My short game has vastly improved after just a few rounds. I agree with you though the weight difference is something to get used to, but I think you'll be very happy in the long run.

I had DSGs before (58 and 64) and they were more like M grind or possibly T grind. Been Vokey all the way since 2010.

I played Cleveland wedges a few years back and made the switch to Vokey. I feel the extra weight of the Vokey wedges helps me stay down on the ball better.

Thanks! I'm pretty excited for them at this point it's just a matter of when for me.

I agree: I started with Cleveland 900s and 588s. I always loved the way Vokeys were designed, so I finally switched last year. I love everything about it, which has also given me a boost of confidence. I wish I switched sooner!
  10. I used to play Cleveland wedges and switched to SM7 52 & 58. I was always hesitant to switch because I thought I wasn’t good enough to play the Titleist wedges. It didn’t take long to get comfortable with them. I find that I’m more consistent with distance. You will love them.

I used Cleveland wedges for many years and would not have changed if it was not for the gap I was experiencing between by my 712 AP2 and the wedges. I tried the vokey wedges at a titleist wedge fitting day and my gap distance immediately improved.

My short game generally improved and I was more confident with soft and lob shots. that was 5 years ago now and I have just bought 2 vokey wedges to go with my new AP3's.

    Happy golfing.

What Roger Cleveland brought to wedge technology in the 80's was fantastic and the original 588's were game changers. That said, when he moved on and Bob Vokey started producing wedges for Titleist, the next great leap occurred. Not only did Bob bring greater feel to wedges, his versatility in lofts, grinds, and finishes is unmatched. If you can't find a Vokey that fits your game, something is wrong.

I switched to Vokey from Cleveland a few years ago. The performance on full swings and partial shots is unparalleled in my humble opinion. Frankly, the number of grind options on Vokey's alone sets them apart from Cleveland and others. Get fit, and you will not regret it.
  14. I used to joke that I was a member of a wedge support group. Every year, I would purchase a new wedge, and then go back to my old one about 3 weeks into the season. I had 3 Cleveland wedges at one time, CG15s. I just really never got comfortable with them. I started with Vokey wedges slowly. My 60 degree was first, and I liked it so much, that my old wedge got put away for good. I purchased a 56 last year, and then at season end I purchased a 50 degree after being fitted at Eagle's Nest. All of the are SM6's and they are amazing.
  15. One additional note for the sake of full disclosure. I can't tell the difference between grinds on the Vokey wedges. I chose my wedges based on bounce, and there are several selections for each loft, and I have 3 different grinds on my 3 wedges. I like something with low bounce, and my wedge game is the strongest part of my game.

Get fit and put your Vokey's in play...you won't regret it and you won't look back. They are point and shoot when you have the right grind/bounce/loft/shaft options in place.

I carried Cleve DSG 58 and 64. The problem was tight lies plus upgraded to c-c grooves. Been Vokey since 2010.

I played DSG 58 and 64 in 2009. Went to SM2 60-08 and 64-07 in 2010. The DSGs, although ADVERTISED at 6* bounce, were horrible off tight lies. In 2017, tried an RTX-4 64* wedge and it was absolutely HORRIBLE out of hard sand; my current 64* is an MD3 64/8. I've been happy with M grind for a sand wedge for ages now. The only problem with Vokey lob wedges is the 58 and 60 went to a 10* S grind from 7*. I have an SM7 58-12D and it works great as a sand/lob wedge AND I can do digging shots. The 62-07 and 64-07 SM4 wedges were great off tight lies; they need to bring back the T grind. I do pretty well with my SM7 56-08M off a number of lies. I bent the SM6 50-08M to 48* because it lowers the bounce and the added swingweight vs a 48-08 makes a difference in the feel.
