  1. Anyone else had a problem with SM6 shafts rusting/pitting? Bought them a year ago (spring of 2019) and noticed this spring that the shafts of both (54 and 60) have a ton of pitted rust marks on them. They have been stored with all the rest of my clubs over the winter, and none of the others did this, and they are all older than these wedges (the irons being almost 4 years old AP1s). All my clubs were cleaned at the end of the 2019 season together. Just strange to me that they look so much worse than all the rest of my clubs they were stored with. The clubheads themselves look great for what it's worth.

Sounds like if you bought them a year ago (when SM7's were out) you got them used or from somewhere they may have been uncontrolled or even counterfeit? If they were from a trusted retailer, they still could have used something harsh to clean the shafts before sending them to you, so they would look pristine. That cleaner may have affected the regular finish on the chrome. I would take some steel wool to them and after, spray clear coat or at least keep them oiled down with something like WD40. Shouldn't affect the performance in any way.
  3. Definitely not used or counterfeit, got them for Carl's Golfland which is one of the top retailers in the country. They were just the leftover stock, like how now you can get the SM7s for cheaper since the 8s are out. The cleaning thing is a possibility, I know the shafts can look a little less than shiny after sitting in the store for a few years. My main concern is eventually the shafts can break if they rust enough. Although if that happens I'll just get them reshafted with Project X shafts to match my new 718 T-MBs. I will clean them up, just thought it was odd. I have a ton of old clubs in my basement and none of them look like that, including my old SM4s, and my 710 and 716 AP1s, and while they all have signs of age, it's nothing like these wedges.
  4. Just wanted to update on this as they have been getting even worse. After closer inspection they didn't really rust so much as it was a poor chrome plating job. The chrome is literally just falling off the shafts. None of my other clubs have ever done this, including clubs that were stored in the same bag, just these 2 Vokey wedges. Shame because the heads are still in great shape, but the shafts look disgusting.
