  1. I've found from personal experience that opening the face slightly can really improve your chances.

Before I used to setup with a square club face on my pitch and chip shots which lead to a lot of fats and thins.

I've started opening the face only slightly and for me this has made me a lot more successful around the green.

Are you aiming a wee bit to the left then Alex?
  3. No the ball comes out straight only slightly open. Just engages the bounce and stops you from chunking it.

    Hope this helps

I recently learned on a podcast that this is the way wedges are designed to be used.
  5. When you open it a bit you're exposing more of the bounce which helps eliminate the fat shots or the ones where the leading edge difs too much.
