  1. I am a higher handicapper (20-21) and even though I have a slower swing speed and tend to hit it shorter than others, I always felt that my short game needed work. There is some low-hanging fruit there to save a few strokes.

I have been carrying some wedges made by a company named after a city in Ohio :-) and they've been just "ok." Nothing particularly wrong with them, but I never felt like they did much to help, if you know what I mean.

So anyway, I decided to replace them with Vokey SM9s -- a 52.08F and a 56.10S -- and I played those wedges for the first time this past weekend. All I can say is wow. I am not the best ball-striker even in my chipping and pitching, but this weekend, I was making good clean contact with the ball and those wedges sent the ball where I wanted it to go and the ball (testing both Pro V1X and Tour Speed) would check up and stop, cool as a cucumber. Nothing ran off the green except one or two where I made a very poor strike. But when I made that good contact, the Vokeys felt great. Never really thought about the feel of a wedge before, but I do now.

Even with my absolute least-favorite shot in golf -- the 50-60 yarder -- I felt more in control and more comfortable. I'm a convert!

Thanks for the input. I fall into your category...slow swing speed and don't hit it very far. I'm definitely going to check out the SM9s!!

Great testimonial. Only helps reinforce all the hard work Mr. Vokey has put into the development of these great clubs. Those others you were playing are good as well. Bob Vokey and Roger C have revolutionized the wedge industry. Of course I agree that Vokey makes a better wedge that appeals to all levels of play. Some pros may play other brands of clubs but you will find the Vokey wedges in the bags.

I have to say there is no better feeling than striking a ball correctly with a new wedge. The mark that's left and the spin is amazing.

Love my SM9 62 degree with M grind for pitches 50 yards and less. Dispersion averages around a measly 2 degrees, but found it too lofted and bouncy for more than 50, or for short pitches and chipping around the green. Just tried out the SM9 60 degree with D grind @ 12 degrees with Trackman. No matter the type of shot, my average dispersion was 0.5 degrees left and 8600 rpm and nearly zero sidespin---that was across 39 shots at 50-70 yards. Is Bobby V a master craftsman or a sorcerer?
