  1. Just wondering if anyone has experience with the Nippon wedge shafts in their vokeys? I’ve played around with the KBS hi revs, Nippon 950 gh, Nippon Modus 3 105’s but wondering if anyone has a comparison or experience with the wedge specific shafts?

Had the Nippon Modus wedge 115 in my sm8 sand and lob wedges, loved them. I just haven’t got around to putting them in my sm9’s, will probably wait until the sm10 to do it. I have the modus 105 in them now, same as my irons, but I like a little heavier shaft in my wedges, so will definitely put them in next time around.
  3. How do you like the modus 105’s in your wedges?
I’m thinking about matching my 52 to the modus 105’s in my irons and the Nippon wedge shafts in the rest of my wedges.

What I’m curious about, from someone who has used them, is the flight and spin with the Nippon wedge shafts. How do they compare to the Modus 5’s that are in your wedges now?

I play Nippon 105 stiff in my irons, and was told to go the same in my wedges, didn’t like it at all, especially in the lob wedge with touch shots, just too light of weight. I put a dynamic gold wedge 115 in it for the time being, helped with the weight, but the Nippon wedge feels better, softer and creates more spin. The 105 isn’t bad in my 54*, but I do hit a lot of full and partial shots with it.

The Nippon wedge creates more spin, softer and I liked the balance of them. When I hit the 115’s weighing 122 grams in the sm8, my irons had project x lz that weighed 110 grams. Now that I’m in the Nippon 105 weighing 106 grams, I might try the 105 wedge shafts at 111 grams. I like the heavier shaft for better tempo around the greens and partial shots in my sand and lob wedges. I left the 105 in my gap because I 95% of the time hit full shots and get along fine. Nippon are one of the best shafts I have played and I have played Dynamic Gold, Project X and the LZ.
  5. Thanks for all that info.
I play the 105’s x stiff soft stepped and they are awesome. I went with Nippons years ago just trying to find something lighter and would like to say I’ll never go back to anything else. I’m going to stick with the 105’s this year so I think matching the 52 to my iron shafts will be fine as well. I only play full shots or longer flighted shots with it.
Your review of the Nippon wedge sounds similar to the kbs hi-revs? I went with Nippons to get rid of weight in the first place so I think the wedge 115 at 122 grams might be the answer for me. Your comment pretty much reinforced what I was hoping for. Thanks a lot, I appreciate it!

For sure…the Nippon 105x are 112 grams, so the 115 wedge at 122 grams would flow great with your current iron setup. I had the 115’s last time and loved them. Hope everything works out..I never have like the KBS line, so can’t comment on those. Good Luck!!
