I am not much a golfer, but I do love the game. I bought a used set of 704 CB 5-PW online last year and have been trying to learn to use them well. I didn't get fit for them but used a system of measuring my height and wrist to ground etc... I found online it it recommended a +1 length.
I have a hard time making consistent contact on the ball. I've had several lessons in the past, hours and hours actually. When I make solid contact the ball flight is beautiful. For example my 9 iron will fly high and roll out to about 120-125 yards(per range signage) and my 7 will stop about 130-135 yards. But as mentioned, I can't repeat this over and over. So my question is, should I learn to be more consistent before even bothering with a fitting for new clubs or am I using the wrong clubs/shafts to begin with and that's whey I can't hit the ball consistently?
