"Hope Springs Eternal" . . . A new season, my best round, hitting that shot that brings me back time and time again to a game I truly love.
Just this morning I opened a box of the Titleist 2014 DT Solo in Optic Yellow and made my mark on them setting them up for a round of golf after church. Weather is going to be low 70's and clear here in NE Florida, just perfect for chasing that little "yellow" ball around the golf course. And I opened a sleeve of Pro-V1's and put in my bag for putting practice later.
Will be playing golf in North Florida and watching golf in South Florida later this afternoon.

I love the feel of the brand new golf balls and putting my bright orange mark on them and letting it dry before i put them back in their cozy sleeves until use. I also love the purity of the whiteness that they have. I always feel better knowing i have fresh sleeves in the bag when i'm golfing.

I love the feeling of anticipation for the first drive, and its especially great when my drive is perfect.

Very nice answers by Mike and Scott.
Everything about the new box of PROV1X's excites me. From the initial sight of the box to the new shine and feel of the golf balls.
I custom order mine with #13 and TIGER on the side in either Pink or Green which have personal meanings and make every round even better.
To those of you with shortened seasons due to weather, I wish for nothing more than warm sunny days and smooth fast greens in your future. Or you could always travel to gods country (OKLAHOMA) and play in our roller coaster weather patterns.

Like Justin said, there' s a very pleasant smell that comes with opening up a fresh box. Then when you dig into the sleeve, you get it again. You also know that once that V hits the tee, it'll never be new again. I always take an extra second to enjoy crushing (in theory) that first shot. There's so much potential in each Pro V. Being stuck in the polar vortex of New England as well, I've marked all my No. 7 Giahotsauce's already, so once that big melt comes though they're ready to go.
Which ball will be the best round of the year, my life, or my first Ace? nobody knows, but one of those puppies will be making history at some point this year.

Haven't opened my first box yet this year but, It will be any day now :-)
I like marking a new box with my sharpies. Yes I said Sharpies with an "s"
This might sound crazy but I use 3 colors :
First ball out of the sleeve gets marked with a black Sharpie.
Second ball out of the sleeve gets marked with a blue Sharpie.
Third ball out of the sleeve gets marked with a red Sharpie.
My logic is this ... If for any reason I have to hit a second (provisional) ball,
I will know which one was the first one hit, second one hit, etc.
I started doing this last year (before then I just used a black sharpie) when I hit a ball
off the tee that I though I might not find so I hit a provisional. I had hit the 2 balls in the same
area and when I got there to look for them I found one had landed out of bounds and one was in
bounds. They were both mine and had my mark on them. Since they were marked the same I
didn't know which one was the first ball and which one was the second ball.
That's when my buddy & I came up with the different color idea.
That's my story & I'm sticking to it .....

There is something about the clean and pure look of a brand new ball against the backdrop of the lush, green grass. It all feels so fresh, like a new beginning.

I´d just love to pop one out and place it on a tee. Then hit a solid drive down the fairway:)

It is like Christmas morning with a purpose. The thought of endless possibilities with a permanent smile. Twelve days of happiness (if all goes well).

Hey, Mike!
Great post, buddy!
The first thing I notice is the perfect vacuum seal inside the box. How it kind of floats open and shuts on the perfect edges.
The engineering and construction are beyond compare.
Then to see all 12 balls neatly encased in their perfect, metallic cribs just waiting to come out and play.
I'll take a dozen (or more) Titleist balls for any gift anytime.
Even better than new socks or underwear!
Titleist products are the gifts that keep giving.
The pure joy they create can't be compared to any other sport's item.
The look, feel, texture and perfect playability keeps me coming back to Titleist over and and over since I was a kid.
Titleist is it!
Thanks for everything T.T., Mike!
See you soon,
Vern

My favorite part of opening a new dozen is breaking out the Sharpies and marking up every single ball one sleeve at a time and then reboxing them for later use.
A fresh dozen inspires thoughts of rounds to come. Absolutely love getting a fresh dozen.
Speaking of which...loyalty promotion this year? :)

Simply put, there is nothing better than opening a new box of Pro V1's, opening the #1 sleeve and putting a Titleist 1 on my tee on the 1st hole. After playing golf for the past 30 years this still excites me!
Matthew SReynoldsburg,
I love sitting down with my Sharpie and putting my 3 red dots around the number. It gets me mentally prepared to take on the course.

No mater when I open a box of Pro V1's it's Christmas. The present that I like to get more than any other. Course, I've never gotten a Ferrari as a present.
Talking about New England weather, lived there for 10 years and commuted from Berkley to Foxboro each day. Snow didn't bother me as much as the pot holes once spring arrived.

I feel opening a new box of balls represents hope, anxousness and the smooth/untouched feel of the surface of the ball!

Great post, Mike. I'm had that fresh feeling this week when I cracked open the first new box of the season. Spending the week in Florida and was able to catch a couple of rounds with my brothers in law. Fortunately, I only went through one of the sleeves but that new dozen of shiny new Pro V1x balls just make you want to rip those beautiful babies right up the middle!

The wonderful aroma, notice I didn't say smell, of a brand new sleeve of golf balls. It means it's time to tee it up and enjoy my surroundings, my friends, and the game itself. There are few things that can outdo that.

Opening a new box of balls, means my last dozen is in the lake the trees or the tall grass. Lol. Have a great golf spring to all.

The excitement of newness gets to all of us, but to a golfer it is so special when that new sleeve is opened and those new babies hit our hands. Two events from my past come to call...at Christmas my father got a dozen from his boss every year and I fell in love with the Titleist Brand, then I got that same feeling later in life when I opened cans of new tennis balls.
The look, the smell, the feel......Excitement from Titleist........the only ball for me!

Opening a new box means that two new sleeves are headed into my Titleist bag and that the two new sleeves have been marked properly with the three slanted blue dots and that all the numbers in the box were all high numbers. Am going to change that tradition this year when I order my buy three get one free. Getting the number "69", which is the low round I shot on September 13, 2013, three days after I turned 67 (hung three other putts on the edge), with the initials FJA...and some of you know what that stands for.... It means my previous Prov1s have bit the dust. It is a new beginning and it shows the rest of the golfing world that I am playing the number one ball in golf, proudly, with new balls......'nugh said.

Oh boy this brings out the emotions. There's nothing like opening a box of Titleist golf balls. It brings me back to being a kid at Christmas. My family always says how hard I am to shop for; but they always know a box of Titleist Pro V's is a guaranteed success!
Even at 39 years old, I still scan the area under the tree on Christmas morning for that perfect shaped box that can only hold those sweet white spheres. The box, the smell, the feel of brand new Titleist golf balls. Each ball represents unlimited promise and opportunity.
Now that I think of it, I need to stock up.
