    Hi everyone -

This week marks the 15th anniversary of the Titleist Pro V1 golf ball tour launch. Little did anybody know in October 2000 that the Titleist Pro V1 golf ball would become one of, if not, the most revolutionary products in golf equipment history. If you haven't read the story on our blog, take a look at it here!

We wanted to ask Team Titleist: What is your first memory playing the Titleist Pro V1 or Pro V1x?

My memory (with the help of my parents): I was at a junior golf clinic at Sylvania Country Club in Sylvania, Ohio, when I was six years old. I was participating in a long drive contest in my age division and stuck it to a foot of the target using my Pro V1. Wish my memory served me better, I couldn't tell you the yardage ... but I bet I'm sure it was impressive, ha!

We look forward to reading your responses!

    Best,

    Abby

I remember finding one of the first Pro V1s, reading the side of it, and thinking that this ball was a special ball for "pros only". Like a "secret of the pros". Then I started playing the ball whenever I could find one (I was 10 years old, didn't have a job yet).

The only thing I remember (sucks getting old) are 2 things; First time I ever held a brand new ProV1 (not sure on year) it was the softest ball I have ever held, hands down and secondly when I first putted with it, I was blown away on how soft it felt coming off the face...

Wow congrats Dwayne, that is a great accomplishment and way to make a ProV1 fan for life with that kind of success!!!

  7. I remember looking at the Pro V1 after my first round and thinking "no cuts." Coming from a Titleist balata ball, where I'd always cut up the ball especially with the wedges, it was a great transition. Still spun into the green but less spin off the driver than a balata...little ballooning.

Have never played any other ball since.

    Happy Anniversary!

I had a bag of recycled ProV1's when I was first getting into golf in college, so my first memory with them are my first 18 holes and being ecstatic getting my first ever par (LOL now) on that day.

On my 13th birthday my aunt gave me a brand new box of Pro V1s. My birthday was in the winter so I had to wait until all the snow melted until I got to play with the balls. On my first round of the year, I used the Pro V1s. On the third hole I remember a long par 4 that was very windy. I hit a good tee shot down the third and then I hit my second shot, that was about 140 yards into the hole. That was my first ever eagle.

I was a lucky guy and was able to buy 4-5 dozen of the Pro V1 when they first came out as they were hard to come by.  The balls popularity took on a life of its own, and it was not uncommon to wait months for them.

I remember sitting in a business meeting with a coworker from the UK, and he mentioned how his friend back home asked him to find some of these "special Titleist golf balls" while he was in the States, but he had not been able to locate any.  I walked in the next day and put a dozen in his hand and told him to tell his friend, "Good luck!" from me.  My coworkers facial expression was worth all the money in the world.  I heard from him that his friend had tears in his eyes when he gave the balls to him.

Team Titleist is a global family!  Memories like this are why I have always played Titleist, and i always will.

    Best wishes to all!

My club was in the middle building a new clubhouse.  There was a trailer that served as a temporary clubhouse, and one day there appeared a rack of these new Titleist golf balls.  The pro told me to try them, you won't be sorry, so I bought a sleeve.  I couldn't believe how soft the ball was coming off the putter face.  I was hooked.  Although I have tried various brands whenever a new product would come along, I always came back to the ProV1.

Wish I had old memories. Up until 2010 I didn't play some years, and either played Top Rocks (boxes of 15) or my next ball was the last I found. When the last ball I found was a Pro V, it would slice further OOB. Won a dozen NXTs as my first Titleist balls. Fell in love, and it was also about when I developed an addiction to golf. At one point, won a dozen Pro V1x from TT. Now, I consistently score lower with a 1x. Christmas comes every March with the loyalty 4 for 3 sale.

First memory would be an easy one for me. My old man who got me into golf is a fantastic golfer. He played college golf in Florida and probably could have at least made a run at mini tours. However once life got in the way he turned into a weekend warrior and he always and still plays ProV1's. Well Once I got old enough and started taking golf more seriously I always loved "caddying" for him and his playing partners. I would just drive the cart with their bags and they would walk. After 1 or 2 rounds depending how beat up the balls were he always gave me his "used" ProV1's. I always took them home and gave them a bath in hot soapy water and put them in the bag. I always loved playing them because I felt like a "Pro" because it's what the pros play!

My first memory was when I was younger, probably 6 years old.  I was playing with my dad at our local course and he is an avid Pro-V1 or nothing guy.  I wanted to see if I could hit a ball over the water hazard on the hole and unfortunately for me I grabbed one of his precious Pro-V's and swiftly deposited it into the water.  I was then determined to get the ball across the water, 3 more Pro-V's later once my dad realized where I was getting the golf balls from I was taught the difference between my TF and his Pro-V.

I saved all of my Pro V's that I would find knowing they were the best ball in golf and it was what all the pros played.  Had a stash of about 8 when I decided to use them.  I was so nervous using it I shanked it into the woods and from then on kept every Pro V I found.  Now since my skills have increased they have become the best feeling ball to date.  Nothing feels like a Pro V when you flush it.

My first ProV1 memory was at Indian Hills Country Club summer junior golf in Fort Pierce, Florida, when I was 12 years old. An older member at the course gave me a sleeve of balls for helping him with a scoring for his league. Later that day, I put the ProV1s in action for my first hole out from off the green, from 25-30 yards. The high-fives with my buddies from that shot still stay with me today. From that day, I've been a loyal Titleist ProV1(now ProV1xsuser), and advocate!

I remember it well, it was August 2008. A Pro-Am event in Adairsville Ga. "Barnesley Gardens" They gave a sleeve out to all the entries who signed up. Hooked(no pun intended) ever since.

In late 2012 I had just made the switch to Titleist clubs and was in need of new golf balls as well.  I've always preferred a higher trajectory, lower spin ball so I grabbed a box of Pro V1x and have never looked back.  My favorite golf balls were from a competitor and the first time I put the Pro V1x in play, I've never looked back.

Best ball from every club in the bag.  Just wish my quality of play matched the quality of the ball.  Many a Pro V1x have been donated to the trees and water.

My first memory of the ProV1 was when they were first introduced and the excitement when I got my first couple of sleeves.  Due to all the buzz and rave reviews from the pros and those around the golf industry, ProV1s were very hard to come by in the Atlanta area.  Fortunately, my brother-in-law is a Club Pro and was able to hold back a couple of sleeves for me.  I was playing the Titleist Professional at the time, but was anxious to give them a try and did so in our Club Championship for the first time.  I couldn't believe how much further I was hitting it off the tee and how well it was performed around the green.  It obviously worked for me . . . although I was a fairly low handicap, there were a number of other good players at our Club, but this ball helped me win my first Club Championship!

I have since gravitated over to the ProV1x model, but have played this line exclusively ever since and have NO plans to change!  Thanks Titleist!

    First Titleist PRO V1 Memory...

I had started golfing, my first year taking it seriously. I was a high handicapped hacker. I remember I was on the first tee of my local municipal track when I wickedly sliced my tee shot OB - rooting around in the tall stuff about 150 yards off the tee I found a shiny new PRO V 1 - at the time i did not think there was a difference between golf balls... Boy was I wrong. I abandoned the sliced what-ever-it-was and proceeded to finish the round without losing the PRO V 1, first time I had played 18 without losing multiples of balls. I played my best round of the year that day and swore it was the ball that made the difference. This was a cold wet December day in the pacific north west and I think I broke 100 which did not happen much back then. I continued to use that PRO V1 chipping around my back yard and for practice putting, I did not put it on a tee until I finally broke down and bought a box (I had only played scrounged balls until then) Its been 15 years since I started golf and now play nothing but quality PRO V1's. Good thing I don't lose too many anymore! Thanks Titleist for the great product, it is not a surprise that it is the #1 ball on TOUR!

After playing three of the other brands, just decided one day, what the heck, go for it and put a sleeve Titleist balls in the bag and never looked back.  Have been playing with the Prov for about 12 years.  They work for me and that is what matters most and that is why they are in my bag.  Started playing golf in 1984 and had my first hole in one in 2001 with another brand of ball and my second hole in one in 2012 with a Titleist Prov1.   I can depend on my Prov1s for birdies and eagles.  At my age, 69. I need all the help I can get.

For the longest time I felt I wasn't good enough to play ProV's (and I really wasn't). A few years ago I finally got my handicap down to single digits and I told myself from now on I'm good enough and I'll never play another ball!

    Congratulations on 15 years!

I was a member of Oakhurst CC and purchased a sleeve in the Pro Shop to try out. On the first tee shot I commented on how firm it felt, however the flight & distance was nice. The 2nd hole I laid up to my SW yardage, flew the ball to the hole and spun it back off the green. By the 7th hole I was starting to get a feel for this new ball, it's a short par 4 & I had a 9 iron shot that 1 hopped into the back fringe and spun back in for an eagle 2. After that I gladly accepted the firmer feel.

My first hole-in-one was with a Pro V-1 on 8/20/01. It was the 18th hole a par 3 119 yards all up hill. Got my bag tag from Titleist although it has been lost since, but I still have my plaque given to me by my buddies that I golfed with. Just made the beer taste that much better!

Started playing the Pro V as soon as I finished with the Professional's that were in my bag.  The Professional had  a short life if I remember correctly.  The Pro V has had many versions,  being upgraded every couple years. It just gets better and better.

Playing the ProV1 for the first time was a remarkable experience.  I didn't shoot my career best round, but felt confident playing with the #1 ball on tour with great feel and consistent distance.  It was the best feeling ball with my Scotty oil can newport... If I'm feeling good about my game, I always open a new sleeve, mark the ball and tee it up!

I remember my first experience well.  It was my second shot to the green on a par 4.  There was a sand bunker directly in front of the flag.  Usually I never go for the flag because my ball would not go far enough or high enough to hit the area over the sand bunker and stick.  But with the ProV1X the ball flew high and far.  I was amazed to see my ball go over the sand bunker and stick on the green in front of the flag.  That sold me!  I loved that feeling of that ball.
