I currently carry 4 wedges, but I'm considering downsizing to three to add another hybrid to my arsenal.

I carry the AP2 stock PW at 48 degree, and Vokey's at 52, 56, and 60 degrees. Just curious what others are carrying.

    James,

I carry 3 gapped at 5* from my 45* PW (so 50, 55 and 60).  I did the 2 hybrids by dropping my 4 iron from the bag which has been a good decision.  Much easier to hit from the rough and in general.

I carry 4 wedges, removed my PW & AW that came with my set and replaced with 48* & 52* to go along with my 56* & 60*. They all fit perfectly with my yardages within 125 yards. I see myself going with this setup for a long time as my short game is best part overall game.

I'm playing 50°, 56°,60° but I'm planning to add 46°instead the Pitching wedge. It depends on your game/course

Justinu3, given you have a 45* P plus a 50*, 55*, and 60*, you actually carry 4 wedges. No criticism here, though. I have the AP1 714 irons, 5-P (44*), and 48*,and 52* to the set. Really, really good gapping. I also carry a 58/11* Vokey. Wedge loft gaps of 44* P to 52* of +4* + 4*, and 6* to the Vokey 58* LW/SW. I rarely hit the 58* full out and the 52* sole is very versatile. I hope this helps someone.

    Four - 48, 54, 60, and 64.

Yes - I know that I am 1 of the few people who still carry the 64, but I also carry a 15 degree hybrid...

BTW - I love the 64 - wish Vokey still made them.

I carry all SM4 wedges 48* 54* 60* . I love the bounce and feel of these wedges and the best part of my game comes from the 125 and in shots.

The modern P was yesterday's 9 iron and today's 50* was yesterday's P. I carry 44*/6* P, 48*/7* PW2, 52*/7* PW3, and 58*/11* L/S wedge. Therefore, it looks like I am carrying 4 wedges, in reality I am only carrying 3 true wedges. For the history of the increasingly strong lofts in irons, see http://www.golfer-today.co.uk/how-loft-has-changed-on-irons/ Think of it this way: every 1/2" added in length and 3* to 4* decrease in loft equals a stronger club. I hope this helps.
  12. Old school here... PW, 52 and 56.

Though I am seriously contemplating a 60 and have been for a while...

  13. I have a AP1 pitching wedge(44 degree),AP1 gap wedge(48 degree)and a 52 degree/8 degree bounce SM5 VOKEY wedge. steve b

I carry 4 Vokey wedges. This complements my AP1 set up well.  I use 46' raw black, 52, 58, & 64' oil can(they are rusting and I LOVE it!!)

I took the PW out of my set and replaced it with a Vokey 48 then added a Vokey 52, 56 & 62. I like having the 4 degree difference and the 62 gives me a lot of shot opinions around the greens.

    James,

I carry 3 wedges a 52, 54, and 58 degrees. I use to carry four, but found myself overthinking which one to use or second guessing myself. And dropping one wedge to pickup a hybrid sounds like a better attack strategy to me!

I've found more benefit in carrying at extra wedge as opposed to a long iron. I've got the stock AP2 46 degree (140 yard club), Vokey SM5 50 degree (125 yard), SM5 54 degree bent to 55 degrees (110 yards), and a SM5 60 degree (under 100 yard). I find myself hitting my 4 iron as long as I hit my 5 iron so the extra wedge allows more precision to score.

I carry 4 50/54/58/62 and looking to buy the new spin mill 5 in the 46 degree to replace my pw. I hit the ball over 300 and love to have a lot of spin options. my 58 is pretty much my go to wedge from 110 to anywhere around the green it just works.

U until two months ago I had Ap1 pw, AP2GW, and Vokey sm5 56° . I recently put a Vokey sm5 48° in my bag thinking I would replace my AP1pw, but what I'm seeing is the gap wedge is on the way out. My pw distance is 140 my Gw is 125. But the new Vokey PW distance is about 125, its seems im losing about fifteen yards due to spin?? Is this normal? I'm getting the new 716irons in November so I have time to test and see if I get my irons 4-9. Or 5-pw...so for right now im going with four wedges....

I carry 3 wedges. Pitching wedge 48 degrees, gap wedge 52 degrees, sand wedge 56 degrees. I find that most shots for a lob wedge can be hit by opening up my 56.

SM4 Vokeys 52, 56, 60. Tried the 52-58 but dropped it because the 52 wasn't enough loft for sand, and the 58 wasn't as easy to flop over trees etc, and didn't land as soft. 52 is my chip club also.

I carry four wedges: 48, 52, 56 and 60. That gives me everything I need from 110 yards out all the way to 50 out. That seems to work well for me.

I play my PW bent 1*weak at 48* and my Vokeys at 54* and 60*. The 6* gap works well for my game and gives me 15 yards between full shots with each club. I am a good wedge player so between the three wedges I have my yardages covered in 5 yard intervals using a variety of different shots.

Every time I take a wedge out of my bag and add a 5 wood or extra hybrid, I regret it.  You're going to make more birdies with wedges than an extra wood/hybrid.

I prefer 4 wedges because around the greens is where you score so the better equipped you are the lower you score.

I have the two wedges Thad came with my AP2's plus a Vokey 58.  Three wedges is my max for remembering how each one reacts to a full shot, 3/4 shot, half shot, pitch, flop, and on, and on, and on.

AP1 PW (46) SM4 52-08 SM4 54-11 (53) SM5 60-04 The two SM4s are alternates. The 52 actually gives a higher ball flight. I use the 54 on grassy lies and soft sand. The 60-04 works in many situations.

I carry only 3, an AP2 stock PW and 2 Vokeys. A 54 and 60 degrees I have found this set up and gap in lofts works great for me.

I carry 3 SM4s (48, 54, and 58) plus my set's PW. Like Justin, I dropped my 4 iron in favor of a second hybrid.

  42. I had 4 for many years (P, G, S, L).  Removed the Lob last year & put the 3 iron back.  I find that I've given up very little by eliminating the Lob.
