The test balls performed very well even in the extremely wet conditions on our course.  Ball flight was true and gave good distance

    Goodwick,

Many thanks for the sleeve of balls,

They flew long and straight off the Tee, runout was poor but the ground is sodden, so was expected.

Good feel of my Irons and ran true on the greens, feel pretty soft.

Would happily have these in my bag, well impressed.

    Frilford Heath,

    Good morning,

I used the balls at the weekend in warm but windy conditions.  Compared to my normal ball, the ball was very similar from the tee, but did provide good distance.  I did feel it was not quite as forgiving as my normal ball with additional spin (although the wind could have contributed) and the touch around the green was a little harder but it performed very well when putting.

They definitely felt softer than the other Titleist balls I have used, almost an in-between of a PRO-V1 and a Chrome Soft.

    Regards,

    Paul.

    Hi Hannah

Sorry for the delay in replying but the weather conditions where I live in the uk have not been good for golf.

The feel of tee shots off the driver and irons was great. The ball flew very well in very windy conditions.

Shots played from the fairway needed one club less than than my present ball.

Around the Green - Nice feel off the club face when chipping but wet greens made it difficult to judge how much spin can generated.

On the green - Positive feel off the putter and the ball rolled very well.

Thank you for the opportunity to be a part of the Titleist golf ball testing process.

I found the test ball to be a bit longer off the tee and with fairway shots.  The dispersion was less with longer clubs.

Within 100 yds the test ball sat well on the greens with little run out.  (Fairly soft greens at this time of year.)

I found the test ball soft and had a positive sound off the clubs, IMO.

Overall, I was pleased with the results of the test ball and hope that we might learn which ball this might be for future use.

Thank you Team Titleist.  Happy and Healthy Holidays to all.

  7. Hi Hannah,

My second post due to unable to leave feedback due to adverse weather and courses closed!

I have now played 3 rounds with the test balls you kindly sent me.

I have found that they are as long as my current ball off the tee with a high penetrating flight-

They have a superior amount of Greenside and short iron spin and have a soft but super nice sound and feel off the putter with a great roll.

seems the dimple pattern is a little deeper than a pro v1 and feels very tacky tithe touch.

wouldnit hesitate in putting this ball in my bag now!!!

tThank you for the opportunity .

Got to say many thanks for these test balls. A great surprise and what is more really enjoyed using them.

Felt really good off the tee, minimal spin and great distance. Had a good sound off all clubs but most impressed with the feel around the green where they appeared to be very good at gripping.

Would lobe to know what ball these are when they released as this will be the ball I would buy.

I am female and play off 14. For me the ball gave no extra distance so was probably better for a faster swim speed. It was good when playing to greens but the course is SO wet that any ball would stop well. Maybe better to test during our summer. Would not rush to buy it because for me it did nothing special......sorry

  10. There has been a delay in testing the balls due to course closures for bad weathers but I have managed to play 3 rounds with them now. I generally play Prov1 through June - September and then DT Solo's for the remainder of the year. Being December I an comparing the trial balls to the DT's.

I found the trial balls had a pleasing soft skin and came of my driver very well, they felt a little more explosive than my DT's. They also proved to be stable in the wind but i did find they tended to pick up a lot of moisture when putting. I play early mornings so the greens can be quite dewy and felt they collected more water than my DT's were. I was also happy with them for iron play, again the slighter softer fell felt great off the club face and offered a little more spin on landing. Overall i would be happy to play with these balls though i feel they are more suited to summer play at my course which is very dry and tight in the June  - September period.

I look forward to have the chance to test any future trial balls you send out, thank you Team Titleist.

Excellent Ball found it very similar to the NXT Tour but the cover was softer, I think it would need warmer conditions to make a better judgment of the ball.
  12. Hi, Have now used the test balls and found them excellent, they flew very well in the strong winds and were excellent around the greens for chipping and putting. Distance difficult in the winter, but in all I felt I gained a few yards of the tee.

    Huddersfield,

Played another round yesterday in very soggy conditions and again the ball performed well. I've played 2 rounds with the same ball and it was still in good condition until I lost it on the last hole. I was gettin some reasonable spin with approach shots with wedges albeit into soft greens. What I like most is how it performs off the tee with the driver and 3 wood 915's.

all round, not a bad ball at all. I'm going to keep my last one until the better weather to see how it performs on drier conditions

    Cambridge,

Tried out the test balls today not ideal conditions very windy and wet, off the driver the ball felt really good and long compared to my usual  winter ball (Velocity - always double digit), the difference I noticed was off the irons and around the greens plenty of spin of the wedges and a great feeling off the irons with consistent distance. Putting was good today and the ball felt soft off the putter face and gave me good feedback through the putter giving me confidence. Thanks Titleist, I look forward to seeing what ball it actually replaces and I am sure that it will find its way into the bag especially replacing the Velocity balls.

  15. Feels great off the face of the club and can be hit well by a slower swing speed. Hits straight off the tee box but has enough spin to stop on the greens. It might just be me but it sounds different to the pro-v1/x good all round ball which feels soft and gives you confidence when you step up to take you shot.

    Hi Hannah,

    I really loved these balls.

Great off the driver with nice distance, a few yards more than ususal.

The irons had a nice soft feel.

Short game is where this ball really shines. Fantastic control and feel. This aspect of this ball makes me want them.

    Thanks

Thanks for the chance to test this latest ball.

For me, I found it great to drive, distance and control were good, ball flight a tad lower than normal which is good.

it felt great off the face of my irons and hybrids, giving me a lot of confidence to attack the greens.

I seemed to generate more spin when chipping, which once I got used to it, gave me more confidence.

The feel off of my putter was great. I found distance control improved, if I didn't hole it I was left with tap ins.

All in all a very impressive product, I'd happily play with these in the bag.

Got a little extra distance off the tee but couldn't really say I noticed anything of consequence with irons, wedges or on the green. Played one round with just one test ball, so I was able to keep it in play and avoid the water. Happy to answer any particular questions and thanks again for sending these to me. Your faithful tester, Charlie Rowton

Thank you for the test balls, they feel good of all clubs and the flight was true and straight when hit cleanly, good length (winter golf muddy rough). Nice feel when putting. On a lighter note nice to have a ball that comes back onto the fairway off the odd tree.

Apologies for the delay in providing feedback. I have been playing golf in the middle east where this new ball performed magnificently. It stopped very quickly on firm fast greens from approach shots, had excellent soft feel on the greens and that made my distance control very good. Driving distance was on a par with my usual NXT Tour ball and it seemed not to deviate off line laterally off the driver. All in all very impressed and as a 15 handicapper it helped me shoot a 6 over gross!!! Is this test ball the new Pro v 1?

Well hello.  I suppose this is where we leave our feedback (thank you Hannah)

First let me say thank you to Titleist for allowing us (and me) to be a part of the R&D for new products.  I had received my sleeve of balls in November.  Not ideal for Michigan, but, thanks to El Nino, I was able to get a round in and try out the ball I was sent.

The first thing I always do is visually inspect the ball.  First thing that stood out was the cover.  It was a brilliant white (which is usually a clue that it is not a urethane cover).  Next I usually take a little bite on the ball (sounds awkward, but you can get good feedback on the construction of the ball).  What I noticed is my visual inspection seemed to be correct,  The cover was not easily compressed, however, I could definitely feel a very soft layer underneath which tells me this ball would be able to generate some spin off of short shots.

Off to the course we went.  It was under 60 degrees outside (probably around 55 with a decent wind).  I wasn't expecting huge yardage from the ball due to the colder temp, but was very surprised by the lack of drop off from my normal shots.  Tee shots from the driver were still around 270-280 with a nice piercing ball flight.  Hybrids (3 and 4) were about the same as well (230-250).  Irons as well showed no fall off in distance.

Where the biggest change I noticed was on the greens.  Mid to long irons had minimal roll out (5 to 15 feet depending on the iron - high loft to low loft).  Wedge play was phenomenal.  The ball bit and stopped almost immediately with some shots backing up 6 feet or so.  It was easy to control this ball on shots from 135 and in.  There was one hole in particular where I was 120 yds out to a back left pin with a fall off on that side.  I yanked the shot a little.  It landed pin high on the fringe where the down slope starts.  Normally it would have fallen off the green.  This ball backed up and ended up on the green (up the slope).

The last thing I want to comment on was the durability of the cover.  On days with the wind as it was, I tend to play a lot of low shots where I really pinch the ball.  I tend to mar the cover of the ball a little.  This ball (other than my identifying marks) looked just like when I took it out of the package.  Very impressive.

I am an avid ProV1 user and was so impressed with this ball, I would like to know what it was if/when it hits production.  I would consider playing it over the ProV1 given it's durability, distance and performance.  My only concern would be warm weather play.  Would the ball compress too much for my swing speed and change the performance (105-108 mph driver speed)?  Would the ball spin too much in warmer weather?

Again, thank you for the opportunity and hope to hear back from TT.
