  1. Hi TT

I hope you have all been keeping safe over the past seven or so weeks....and practising hard where possible.

Now courses have started to open in certain parts of the UK, did you manage to play this week?

Is your course fully open, partially or not at all?

Would love to hear everyone's situations and experiences.

How was that first tee shot after a long lay-off??

    Stay Safe!

  2. Hi Matt, courses in Wales open on Monday and my course isn’t opening until 23rd May. But only allowed in 1 ball or 2 if playing with family member and only allowed 1 booking in 2 weeks, so it’s going to be tough and slow going. But I ordered My new Titleist jet black sta dry cart bag in February and can’t wait to get into the shop to see if they received it. Any ideas when Titleist are thinking about doing Titleist Thursdays again? Or if the National fitting centre is open at St ives, because as soon as I’m allowed out by the Welsh government I’m spending everything I have on a full set of Titleist clubs.

    Many thanks

    Richard
  3. Matt,
Mine opened on Wednesday and is rammed, dawn til dusk, until the next batch of slots is released next week.
Course - which suffered badly with the spring rains - is now in tip top condition, fully open and appears to be functioning well.
What was disappointing was that the General Manager was obliged to circulate members reminding them to replace divots and repair pitch marks after just 2 days. Just goes to show that it wasn't visitors or societies who flouted good practice.
Haven't been able to get on yet - Hoping more folk get back to work and leave the course for we retirees, the true Gentlemen of Leisure!! In any case, I think I'll have to wear a hat (I hate hats!!) if only to keep my hair out of my eyes.

  4. Hi Matt,
I was lucky enough to play on the our course on Wednesday the 13th May.
A very strange experience initially. I birdied the first hole but unfortunately went down hill from there.
I really enjoyed returning to golf, walking on the fairways and greens. With the dry weather we had it took some time for me to adjust to the hard ground conditions as the last time I played, the course was so wet!
Hope to get a few more rounds in the next few days. I do miss the social aspects of the game, but I am sure that will return soon
You really appreciate the game more after a long spell away from it.
Stay safe everyone and follow the restrictions fully.
  5. Hi Matt ,Yes I played on the 13th ,15th .My first tee shot was good a straight .Played OK but lost my touch around the greens .Putting on the course not the same as your hallway .Just loved being back on the course ,which looked great .

Hi Matt, I live on the Isle of Man and we were allowed back playing two weeks ago in one balls so I was all over it.

I’m working from home and have developed tendinitis in my wrist from it, sods lawl! Definitely blaming home working for the injury the mouse is my nemesis!!!

Oh and my first drive was a lovely baby draw up the middle which came as a complete surprise as I’m a fully paid up member of the faders club!

    Cheers

  8. Hi Matt,

Our course Cotswold Hills Golf Club opened its gates again on Thursday and was in great condition thanks to the continued work of the green staff despite being reduced in number. Greens a little slow due not being cut with the same schedule as normal but that was only to be expected and it won't be long before it's back to its magnificent self I'm sure.

Tee times restricted to 9 holes every two days for members only, 10 minutes slots, with volunteers acting as starters and marshals keeping everyone moving. The course played well and quite tough with the rough being left a little longer, i lost a ball in the first cut just a couple of yards off the fairway. Mixed bag for me finishing 2 over my handicap for the 9 holes with the par 3's being the difference - a 2 on the 11th and a 6 on the 15th!

Looking forward to getting out again this weekend.

    Stay safe,

    Fish

    Hi All,
Yes I managed to get out on out course Longcliffe GC in Loughborough. The full course is open only and looks superb, greens roll beautifully but I just couldn’t get the speed, kept leaving it a foot short.
As for the first tee shot it’s a par 3 uphill with a big tree left on a rocky mound, and having thinned it into the rocks my ball ended up next to the 18th green, oops! Ended up with a 6, par for the next 8 couple of bogeys, few more pars and finished with a bogey. I was absolutely shattered though, Going to try again today.
Enjoy all when you get out and sorry for all the Scots who still aren’t able to get out.

    Huddersfield,

Managed to get out on Thursday evening after work (from home). At that time of day the mad rush had disappeared so it was nice and quiet. Met up with one of my usual 4 ball pals and laughed at the length of his hair before we both succeeded in hitting the fairway. The first tee shot has trees and water left, oob right and a ditch at about 180 yds so never easy! After the initial nervousness of being out and about (the first time I’d been any real distance from home and driven for 8 weeks) we both settled in the game and played pretty well. The fairways and rough were in good condition, the rough a tad long, and the greens were a little bit ropey and only cut twice a week. I’m sure they’ll improve over the next few weeks.
I started off with 2 pars and a bogey and went on to shoot +3 for the front 9 with a double on the 9th. Stood on the 18th tee I was +4 for the round and needed a par for a 75. I dunked it in the water off the tee and also 3 putted for a triple bogey 7 and a 78 total and net 75 which I was well happy with! Lets hope today’s game is as good!!

That should read net 65, not 75!
  13. Hi Matt,
My course opened Friday and I was lucky enough to play, after volunteering for the last two weeks helping on the course with the head green keeper, I can’t say anything else other than the course was excellent, after a busy winter without a day being closed the rest was welcome for the playing surfaces. Social distancing was being respected, but unfortunately like a previous note pitch marks were being left, so frustrating. We have been limited to 2 rounds per week during peak times.
I will say if anyone gets the chance to help the green staff at their club take it, you learn so much and gain a better understanding and respect for what they do.
    Happy golfing all

  14. Hi Matt

Played yesterday for the first time in 8 weeks, I’m normally a twice a week man plus a visit or two to the range, so a few interesting shots and unfamiliar feelings on the front nine.
Our courses are busy but an online tee time booking system enables the club to monitor and control members bookings to make sure everyone gets an opportunity to get a slot.
We can play once on the weekend and a maximum of three rounds a week, the members are privileged to have three wonderful golf courses, which after nearly two months rest and great weather are as you can imagine in pretty good condition.
Only allowed to play in two balls we were welcomed back to the club by the staff, strict rules for social distancing were communicated both online and on the first tee. Special flags installed in the holes to avoid having to touch with your hands to retrieve balls work really well, I can see them being used longer term as the holes which usually get damaged by players hitting the sides of the cup were prestine, nice to putt to holes which are actually round and the full 4 1/2 inches.
To restrict multiple handling there are no rakes for the bunkers, so reliant on members smoothing footprints with their feet. Although most are ok to play from there were a few where players hadn’t taken any care in trying to cover over craters in deeper up slopes. Come on boys .. it only takes 30 seconds!
My efforts working on swing speed in the garden during lockdown have paid off, although sometimes direction was an issue , finding the shiny toe of my new CB irons didn’t help .
Pro shop and practice facilities still closed but hoping that may change and open for essentials soon ...before I run out of balls!!

Great to be back. Obey the rules everyone, we don’t want any more closures

    Hi Matt,

Eventually the course opened on Wednesday. Tees 10 mins apart with only 2 balls allowed.
They restricted members to 2 games from wed-sun but there were loads of spare places so I got a game everyday.
Course is in decent condition apart from the greens which were a little dry and we struggle with having different types of grass on the greens. I’ve played ok so far but need to polish the rust off on the course(hits loads of balls into my net in the garden, but it’s not the same as actually playing on the course). Looking forward to the weekend knock with the lads. We’ve got ball lifters on each flagstick to help stay safe.

    Enjoy everyone and stay safe...

  16. Matt

Bishop Auckland open. We can only play 2 loops of 9 holes starting at the first and tenth. This was put in so at least we can rotate to get as many members on as we can to share the course.

Using the BRS system this is easy to manage and we seem to be having no issues.

Game rusty but it is,what it is ,and no matter how out of sorts the game is, its better than being in a situation to fight Covit 19 in a hospital bed in a isolation ward.

  17. Hi Matt. My course opened Wednesday & is in fantastic condition. The course is booked solid for a week and the difficulty at the moment is managing to get on. I played yesterday and it was great to see my yellow pro v1x in the middle of the first fairway after my drive. Pity about the lack of elevation. I don’t think I’ve been more excited to be playing golf. Stay safe.

    Hey Matt.

Not been able to book a tee time at my own course as the V1 booking system has gone Down and we have been asked to call and book a time.

The issue with that is, the phone is always engaged.

So I’ve managed to book onto another course nearby, so this Wednesday coming I will be lucky enough to play 18 holes of Golf.

In the mean time I’ve been doing lots of running and keeping fit during look down.

What I really wound like to do is have a good two hour session on the range and short game area, as I know I will be rusty and just want to get the feel factor back.

Also looking forward to watching Rory DJ Rickie and Matt Wolff in the co-vid 19 charity match as fun as it’s going to be to watch some live golf on the tele imagine if Titleist done a charity event.

My 4 ball would be Justin Thomas & Adam Scott vs Ian Poulter & Andrew “Beef” Johnson. Think the Banter with the English lads would be a good laugh.

Anyway, stay safe and long live TT

Unfortunately I’ve not been able to either practice or play! Due to medication I take for arthritis, I’m immunosuppressed and therefore on the highly vulnerable list. I’ve not been out of my flat since March 18 and have been advised to continue isolating until the end of July!!
It’s been tough for my son too - he’s PGA and can’t get to his Club as he needs public transport to cross London and that’s a no...
  23. Morning TT played 9 holes the other day at my course with a round of 41 so very pleased with that. After not hitting a ball in six months due to my condition. Absolutely love the avx ball which i decided to change to good decision Did notice a difference in distance to what i normally get i don’t hit the ball a long way but it worked well looking forward to doing it again
